1. Some of the beaches in the USA are in remote locations and have no lifeguards so you should be extra careful when swimming.
2. Check the signs at the beach for information on the currents, waves, and jellyfish.
3. If there is a lifeguard at the beach, ask them if there is anything you should know about the beach before you swim.
4. Always snorkel with someone so that you can watch out for each other.
5. Be aware of your position relative to the rocks.
6. Never turn your back to the waves you may get clobbered.
7. A rash guard will help prevent sunburn if you are going to be in the water for awhile.
8. Always wear plenty of sunscreen. (Especially on the first few days of your vacation.)
